FlexNet Operations Permissions

FlexNet Operations 2017

Permissions are grouped into roles, and roles are assigned to users. The following permissions are available in FlexNet Operations:

Alert Management

The following Alert Management permissions are available:

Permission

Description

View and Subscribe Alerts

Allows a user to browse available alerts and subscribe to them.

View and Manage Alert Configurations

Allows administrator to configure alerts and access the alert cleanup service.

System Administration

The following System Administration permissions are available:

Permission

Description

View System Information

View system information displayed in the System Information page (click System > About Advanced Lifecycle Management Module).

View and Manage Configurations

Configure the database connection, the behavior of the FlexNet Platform Server, the behavior of the Producer Portal, and the behavior of different portions of FlexNet Operations. Access to all functionality of the System Configuration page (click System > Configure).

View and Manage HTML Content

Create and maintain HTML content, including the ability to enable/disable its visibility on the End-User Portal.

View and Manage Email Templates

Maintain email templates, including enabling/disabling and creating variations.

Operations Feature Bundles

The following FlexNet Operations Feature Bundles permissions are available:

View feature bundles in read-only mode.

Update Feature Bundles

Edit feature bundles.

Important • If Update Feature Bundles is assigned to a role, also assign View Feature Bundles.

Create Feature Bundles

Add feature bundles.

Change Feature Bundle State

Change the state of feature bundles, such as deploying a feature bundle.

Important • If Change Feature Bundle State is assigned to a role, also assign Update Feature Bundles.

Delete Feature Bundles

Delete feature bundles.

Important • If Delete Feature Bundles is assigned to a role, also assign View Feature Bundles.

Operations License Models

The following FlexNet Operations License Models permissions are available:

Operations Entitlements - Producer Portal

The following FlexNet Operations Entitlements permissions are available:

View entitlements in read-only mode.

Update Entitlements

Edit entitlements. This includes changing any attributes of the entitlement, adding line items to the entitlement, upgrading an entitlement, renewing an entitlement, and upselling an entitlement.

Important • If Update Entitlements is assigned to a role, also assign View Entitlements.

Upsell Entitlements

Upsell entitlements.

Important • If Upsell Entitlements is assigned to a role, also assign Update Entitlements.

Upgrade Entitlements

Upgrade entitlements.

Important • If Upgrade Entitlements is assigned to a role, also assign Update Entitlements.

Renew Entitlements

Renew entitlements.

Important • If Renew Entitlements is assigned to a role, also assign Update Entitlements.

Create Entitlements

Add entitlements.

Important • If Create Entitlements is assigned to a role, also assign Update Entitlements.

Change Entitlement State

Change the state of entitlements.

Important • If Change Entitlement State is assigned to a role, also assign Update Entitlements.

Delete Entitlements

Delete entitlements.

Important • If Delete Entitlements is assigned to a role, also assign View Entitlements.

Edit Sent Emails

Allows email content to be updated after the message has been sent. Used to correct errors.

Edit Unsent Emails

Allows the user to copy an email, and edit email content and distribution list.

Create Email Notifications

Send email to users entitled to download packages or files.

Queue Email

Allows the user to schedule email delivery after approving the message content.

End-User Portal

The following End-User Portal permissions are available:

View entitlements for user’s accounts in read-only mode.

Generate Licenses

Generate a certificate license through the End-User Portal.

Important • If Generate Licenses is assigned to a role, also assign View Entitlements.

For FlexNet Embedded, when Generate Licenses permission is assigned to a role, an end user can map add-ons to a device.

Rehost

Rehost a certificate license through the End-User Portal.

Important • If Rehost is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Repair

Repair a certificate license through the End-User Portal.

Important • If Repair is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Return

Return a certificate license through the End-User Portal.

Important • If Return is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

For FlexNet Embedded, when Return permission is assigned to a role, an end user can remove add-ons from a device.

Manage Users

Manage users through the End-User Portal. This permission does not work for external domain (LDAP) users. For LDAP users, assign the separate, Manage OrganizationsAccounts and Users by Domain Users permission instead.

Manage Accounts

Manage accounts through the End-User Portal.

View Licenses

View licenses for a user’s accounts in read-only mode.

Transfer Line Items

Transfer entitlement line items through the End-User Portal.

View Devices

View devices for a user’s accounts in read-only mode.

Split Line Items or Bulk Entitlements

Split line items or bulk entitlements through the End-User Portal.

View Accounts

View accounts in read-only mode.

View Users

View users in read-only mode.

Transfer Hosts/Move Devices

Transfer hosts or move devices through the End-User Portal.

Get Downloads

Get downloads through the End-User Portal.

View Expiring Entitlements

View the Expiring Entitlements page, subscribe to renewal reminders, receive Renewal Reminder email messages. The View Expiring Entitlements covers both expiring entitlement and expired entitlement features.

End-User Portal Trusted Storage Licensing

The following End-User Portal trusted storage licensing permissions are available:

Web Services

The following FlexNet Operations Web Services permission is available:

Execute Web Services

The authenticated Web services user must have this permission to perform any FlexNet Operations task through the public Web services.

Important • In addition to this permission, the user must have task-specific permissions as well.

Operations Export Import

The following FlexNet Operations Export Import permission is available:

Export and Import

This permission allows the user to import legacy fulfillments using the Importing and Exporting Entities page. For more information about how to export fulfillments from a previous version of FlexNet Operations and import them into this version, refer to the Importing and Exporting Entities section of the Administration Guide, Producer Portal Help Guide, or Producer Portal Help.

It also enables producers to control user access to data export options for a FlexNet Operations entity to prevent inexperienced users from exporting large amounts of data and negatively impacting system performance or causing an outage. Users without Export and Import permission see only data export options with low impact, such as Selected Items, on an entity’s Export drop-down menu. Users with Export and Import permission see the complete list of data export options, including those with high impact, such as All Items and Data Import Template.

User Management

The following User Management permissions are available:

View the list of users.

View and Manage Users

View, add, and edit users. Reset a user’s password. Access to all functionality of the Administer Users page.

View Roles

View the list of users and view the definition of a role in read-only mode.

View and Manage Roles

View, add, and edit roles. Access to all functionality of the Administer Roles pages.

View Logged-In Users

View the list of logged in users in the system.

View As End User

Allows the producer to act as the end user in view-only mode. The end-user role remains unchanged, but attempts to update data will not persist.

Account Management

The following Account Management permissions are available:

View and Manage Accounts

View, add, and edit accounts and their contacts. Access to all functionality of the Accounts pages.

Operations Features

The following FlexNet Operations Features permissions are available:

View Features

View features in read-only mode. Features are the bottom level in the product hierarchy.

Update Features

Edit features.

Important • If Update Features is assigned to a role, also assign View Features.

Create Features

Add new features.

Important • If Create Features is assigned to a role, also assign Update Features.

Change Feature State

Change the state of features, such as deploying a feature.

Important • If Change Feature State is assigned to a role, also assign Update Features.

Delete Features

Delete features.

Important • If Delete Features is assigned to a role, also assign View Features.

Set Feature Override

View and set the following license strings on an individual feature, overriding the license string values specified for a license model: Vendor String, Notice, and Serial Number. To see these fields, the FlexNet Operations license file must contain the FlexNet_Ops.FeatureOverride feature.

Operations Products, Suites, and Maintenance

The following FlexNet Operations Product, Suite, and Maintenance permissions are available:

Change Products, Suites, and Maintenance State

Change the state of products, suites, and maintenance.

Important • If Create Products, Suites, and Maintenance is assigned to a role, also assign Update Products, Suites, and Maintenance.

Delete Products, Suites, and Maintenance

Delete products, suites, and maintenance.

Important • If Delete Products, Suites, and Maintenance is assigned to a role, also assign View Products, Suites, and Maintenance.

Assign Product Lines

Link product lines to user accounts in a customer account. (The FlexNet Operations administrator must enable product lines functionality in system configuration settings.) This permission is provided only to accounts with the administrator or portal administrator user roles by default.

Permission to link product lines to user accounts can be granted to other user accounts by an administrator. In all cases, a user with this permission can assign only those product lines to which he or she is currently linked.

Note • The ability to map products to product lines operates independently from the Assign Product Lines permission.

Delete File Images

Remove the physical file; only the metadata remains.

Download File Images

Download the file from the Producer Portal.

Deliver to Account

Subset of View and Manage Download Packages permission: creating/updating/uploading files, associating files/download packages, and restricting files to accounts.

View and Manage Download Packages

Manage download packages and files: creating/updating/uploading files, creating/updating download packages, associating files/download packages, associating download packages/products, EULA management, restricting download packages to accounts, and restricting files to accounts.

Operations Part Numbers

The following FlexNet Operations Part Numbers permission is available:

Operations License Management

The following FlexNet Operations License Management permissions are available:

Rehost Licenses

Transfer a license from one host ID to another.

Important • If Rehost Licenses is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Repair Licenses

Modify license attributes other than the supported host IDs.

Important • If Repair Licenses is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Correct Publisher Error

Regenerate a license because the publisher made an error generating the original license.

Important • If Correct Publisher Error is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Stop Gap Renewal

Generate a license to provide to a customer whose license has expired and has not yet completed the process of updating or renewing an entitlement.

Important • If Stop Gap Renewal is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Generate Emergency Licenses

Generate an emergency license: a short-term license to provide to a customer whose license has not expired but is not functioning.

Important • If Generate Emergency Licenses is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Return Licenses

Return licenses.

Important • If Return Licenses is assigned to a role, also assign Generate Licenses.

Email Licenses

Email a license.

Important • If Email Licenses is assigned to a role, also assign View Licenses.

Operations Policies

The following FlexNet Operations Policies permission is available:

This permission allows the user to create a FlexNet Embedded license server.

FlexNet Embedded End-User Portal

The following FlexNet Embedded-specific permissions affect the functionality available to End-User Portal users:

Map by Activation IDs

This permission allows the user see the Map by Activation IDs page in the End-User Portal. On this page, an end user can map one or more entitlements to an existing device or license server.

Important • To succeed for users who are not in the account that owns the device or license server, this process also requires that the Skip Account Check system configuration setting be enabled.

Claim and Activate

This permission allows the user to see the Claim and Activate page in the End-User Portal. Users who can view the Claim and Activate page can potentially map entitlements to devices that are owned by unrelated accounts.

Important • To succeed, this process also requires that the Skip Account Check system configuration setting be enabled).
