FlexNet Embedded Licensing
FlexNet Embedded license technology is intended for use by software publishers and intelligent device manufacturers.
Licensing software on each client (such as a device or a workstation) controls the feature set expressed. If the device has network connectivity, it can connect directly to FlexNet Operations and receive the license for its feature set. A device can also be activated off line or using a FlexNet Embedded license server. This getting started section focuses on a licensing model in which one or more clients interact with a cloud-hosted FlexNet Embedded license server.
FlexNet Embedded license technology also enables the use of perpetual, subscription, and demonstration license models in traditional software applications.
Embedded licenses are of two types:
• | An uncounted license model allows a customer to deploy an unlimited number of licenses. |
• | A counted license model restricts deployment to a limited number of licenses. The count is specified during the entitlement process. |
